π Brussels, Belgium
On 4 December, the founding projects of the AI, Big Data & Democracy Task Force β namely AI4GOV, KT4D, ITHACA, and ORBIS β come together for a joint final event that marks the culmination of their shared journey to explore how emerging technologies are reshaping democratic life.
Held in collaboration with the European Association for Social Sciences and Humanities, this conference offers a unique opportunity to engage with the collective achievements of these Horizon Europe initiatives β spanning research, policy, and civic innovation.
Why It Matters
Artificial Intelligence and Big Data are transforming democratic institutions, public discourse, and civic participation. While these technologies offer new tools for transparency and engagement, they also raise pressing concerns around bias, disinformation, privacy, and democratic resilience. This event presents practical solutions, policy insights, and civic tools developed to address these challenges and promote ethical, inclusive digital governance.
Programme Highlights (detailed agenda to be shared)
- Key Findings & Recommendations: Actionable insights on trust, digital literacy, and democracy-centred technologies.
- Thematic Panels:
- Trust β Enhancing transparency and public confidence in AI systems
- Literacies β Building digital skills for informed civic engagement
- Democracy-Centred Tech β Designing technologies that uphold democratic values
- Live Demonstrations: Explore tools and methodologies developed across the four projects.
- Networking & Legacy: Connect with experts and discuss how to sustain the Task Forceβs impact beyond the project lifecycle.
This is more than a closing event β itβs a springboard for future collaboration, regulation, and democratic renewal.
